Minister Ronald Plasterk haalt zeezenderherinneringen op

Minister draait plaatjes bij Radio Extra Gold

Minister Ronald Plasterk (Binnenlandse Zaken en Koninkrijksrelaties) liep in 1973 als 16-jarige jongen mee in de demonstratie voor het behoud van Radio Veronica. Met 150.000 demonstranten toen de grootste ooit. Op zondag 30 augustus haalt hij op internetzender Radio Extra Gold herinneringen daaraan op.

Plasterk is te gast in de ‘Zeezender Top ‘74’. Een lijst, samengesteld door de luisteraars van Extra Gold met typische zeezenderplaatjes: herkenningstunes, hits en songs waar jingles uit voortkwamen. Zoals ‘Man Of Action’, ‘Caroline’ en ‘Summer Is Over’.

Met presentator Jaap Jansen draait Plasterk de hoogste tien uit de lijst en wordt ook stilgestaan bij de dramatische toespraak van Rob Out in het laatste uur van Veronica op 31 augustus 1974 – alweer 41 jaar geleden. Die finale woorden vanaf zee hadden een zware politieke lading. ,,Bij het afscheid nemen van Veronica sterft ook een beetje de democratie in Nederland. Dat spijt me, voor Nederland”, zei Out. Plasterk vertelt hoe hij daar nu op terugkijkt.
